The 2008 Christian Scholars’ Conference was an exceptional experience. With 315 registrants and an additional 310 who came in for the plenary sessions our attendance was the highest in the conference’s 28 year history.
Eight sessions featured peer reviewed papers and three grew out of the forthcoming Festschrift for Carl Holladay, convened by FS editors Gail O'Day and Patrick Gray as well as Thomas H. Olbricht. The luncheon to honor Carl Holladay was a conference highlight.
The high quality of the 207 presentations, from scholars who represented 68 colleges and universities and an additional 24 institutions, reflected substantive research and stimulated reflective critique.
The conference also received positive media coverage, picked up by Reuters, AP, Christianity Today, Pew Forum on Religion and Public Life, Catholic Alliance, RealClearPolitics.Com, local television including the Fox affiliate, the NPR affiliate (WPLN), and the Tennessean featured articles on the 2008 conference. The University's summary article can be found here.
